WestGate@Crane is located just outside the gate of NSA Crane, the world’s third largest naval installation with commands serving as a leading center for national defense research, development, and training. For DoD contractors and companies like the Battery Innovation Center, which began as a DoD-related enterprise, this critical proximity promotes strategic collaboration and facilitates the flow of groundbreaking innovation and ideas in and out of the base.

NSWC Crane’s growing leadership role over research and development within key technologies for the DoD has spurred cluster growth in the Park, while other innovators have also found a supportive home, building off of the dual-use applications of many of the same technologies. In a state with 46% more engineers than the national average, the region’s talent pipeline is fed by Purdue University, Indiana University, Ivy TechRose-Hulman Institute of Technology, the University of Notre Dame and so many more of Indiana’s outstanding educational partners.

WestGate@Crane’s location along I-69 and U.S. 231 positions your operation just 25 miles south of Bloomington, and just 75 miles from Indianapolis. That means rapid access to dynamic markets such as Indianapolis and to the knowledge resources of our university and research partners spanning the state.

WestGate@Crane offers several amenities such as conferencing and training space, a hotel, medical clinic, and many more to come. Serving as the central hub for the park, WestGate Academy is a 64,000 square-foot facility, providing collaborative meeting and co-working spaces, as well as settings and services for hosting conferences, training activities, and vastly relevant programming from key players within the ecosystem. The Master Plan includes many features and amenities–such as walking paths, parks, restaurants, and more–intended to foster innovation and support our growing innovation district’s needs.

Guided by our ambitious Master Plan, WestGate@Crane is transitioning to a vibrant innovation district and a “park within a park”—that is, a cutting-edge technology and research park interwoven within the scenic setting of the Indiana Uplands landscape. With this strategic initiative, WestGate@Crane is the future of innovation.

All of WestGate@Crane’s resources are at your command through the one-stop concierge service of USTF (Uplands Science and Technology Foundation). USTF exists to execute on the shared vision for the Park and serve as your single point of contact to streamline access and speed to market, whether from idea to realized innovation or from startup through expansion. Site selection, ecosystem access, incentives, workforce—USTF is your partner for success.
