Cybersecurity Demo Day Hosted at WestGate Academy in Partnership with Purdue MEP + Purdue cyberTAP NEWS RELEASE September 21, 2021 Small business owners and students who are interested in pursuing a career in cybersecurity have a new opportunity to network, learn and gain hands-on experience. Purdue@WestGate at the WestGate@Crane Technology Park is partnering with Purdue Manufacturing Extension Partnership and Purdue cyberTAP to host Cybersecurity Demo Day on Tuesday, October 26th. The full day, in-person event will feature industry and academic experts, panel discussions, demos and displays in honor of Cybersecurity Awareness Month. “U.S. Businesses of all sizes experienced over 1,000 data breaches in 2020, and over 50% of the U.S. population experienced some form of data compromise impacting the privacy of their personally identifiable information. Cybersecurity is no longer a nice to have capability, but a business imperative. Come learn about current threats and best practices to better secure your business, your customers, and your livelihood at the Purdue@Westgate Cybersecurity Day.” George Bailey, Assistant Director of Cyber Services at Purdue University cyberTAP. Individuals from Purdue University, Mantech, NSWC Crane, Eleven Fifty Academy and others will cover featured topics such as the challenges in cyber education, threats to small businesses, compliance with the Department of Defense and awareness of cybersecurity 4.0. Speakers and panel discussions will be broken up throughout the day for the chance of networking and demonstrations during breaks. The event will end with a networking hour with snacks + drinks provided by Switchyard Brewery. Midwest AI Day has a 3-fold goal:- Create opportunities and collaborations between NSWC Crane, universities and Indiana businesses
- Promote startup technologies and capabilities within the cybersecurity industry
- Support small businesses/industries reduce risk of cybersecurity threats and compromise.
