November 1, 2017

ODON, Ind. – ‘How to License IP’ seminar will be offered by the Purdue Office of Technology Commercialization at no cost to WestGate tenants and members from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. ET, Tuesday (Nov. 7) in the WestGate Academy at 13598 East WestGate Drive, Odon, Indiana. The seminar is part of the Purdue@WestGate initiative to bring programs and further opportunities to WestGate. Presenters include Brooke Beier, executive director, and Emily Najem, corporate counsel and director of strategic communications, both from the Purdue Office of Technology Commercialization. “There are a lot of factors involved in licensing intellectual property,” Beier said. “The primary goal of this seminar is to help researchers and entrepreneurs in WestGate gain as much knowledge about the process as possible so they can make qualified IP decisions or know where they can go to get the assistance they need.” The program includes:
  • Introduction to the Purdue Office of Technology Commercialization.
  • Services available to WestGate innovators.
  • Licensing strategies, tips and techniques.
  • How to ‘bundle’ technologies with Purdue technologies to increase exposure and licensing opportunities.
  • Keys to sustained success.
  • How the WestGate Express License works.
“For example, under the WestGate Express License, WestGate tenants and members who already have a company or are part of the WestGate ecosystem may be eligible for an exclusive express license with preset terms,” Najem said. The seminar is open to the public and registration is not required.  Media Contact: Sarah K.
