GCDW: Openings sought to be filled with BIC course

Via Greene County Daily World The Battery Innovation Center has stated there are still openings for its upcoming electric fundamentals course. According to Chief Operating Officer Ben Wrightsman, the course is an effort for local recruitment into the technology field. “The course is open to anybody,” he said. “The idea is to create tech-based people. We want them [to] take a chance on themselves.” Those encouraged to take on the course include recent high school graduates and those wishing to “skill up” for their careers at no personal expense. “We still have six to eight openings left,” Wrightsman said. “This is a way for those looking for training and a way to gather new opportunities.” The course will provide the first year of electronics fundamentals training, which Wrightsman stated can be taken anywhere. “It gives the students a broad capability of fields, including agriculture, medical, general technology and the military,” he said. Wrightsman added a variety of jobs are currently open in the technology field, which continues to develop. The one-year course will begin Aug. 21.
