IN3 Inks Research Agreement for Defense Fields

BLOOMINGTON - The Bloomington-based Indiana Innovation Institute is partnering with Tougaloo College Research and Development Foundation Inc. in Mississippi to pursue funding for a variety of defense research opportunities. IN3 says the agreement with the foundation, which represents more than 30 historically Black colleges and universities, also allows for joint pursuits in business development and technology commercialization.

The master collaborative research and development agreement will allow IN3 and the foundation to create joint proposals for research work with the U.S. Department of Defense and other military entities in emerging fields such as hypersonics, cyber-physical systems and artificial intelligence.

“Historically Black Colleges and Universities are home to some of the best talent dedicated to working on research and development that is key to our national security,” said Stephen Kelly, chief executive officer of IN3. “The 31 member institutions of the consortium have both undergraduate and graduate students who possess skills and expertise in the fields of engineering, computer science and cybersecurity, which are priorities for the U.S. Department of Defense and other federal agencies.”

IN3 says the three-year agreement will help streamline future collaborative research & development and business development opportunities, as well as the sharing of research facilities.
