Southern Indiana Business Report WASHINGTON – The Daviess County Council approved the first part of the county’s incentive package for the new micro-processing chip plants announced in the WestGate Tech Park. According to the Washington Times Herald, the council gave unanimous approval to a 20-year tax abatement on personal property to each of the four companies that will occupy WestGate One. The four companies, NHanced Semiconductors, Everspin Technologies, Trusted Semiconductor Solutions and Reliable MicroSystems will invest $300 million in the operation. “It’s been in the works for some time. It was part of the incentive package we put out to begin with,” said Tony Duncheon, president of the Daviess County Council. “It was necessary to make the project the way we did for those companies or we might not have got the deal done.” “It is a major step we completed today,” said Executive Director of Daviess County Economic Development Corporation Bryant Niehoff. “It seems like we are giving up a lot, but when you look at what Daviess County will be receiving, it is a lot more. It’s a very good investment for Daviess County.” Strongbox of Zionsville will construct the building. A resolution related to tax abatement for the real estate is expected to be on the commissioners’ agenda next month. The project is expected to add 549 high-paying jobs between 2024-2028. The new, specialized jobs will be critical in advancing American-made microelectronics verification, validation and production of critical microelectronics components in the U.S. Construction is expected to begin this spring.
