Media Advisory: One of Region’s Largest College Fairs Takes Place Tomorrow, $3,000 in Scholarships to be Awarded

Scholarship winners will be announced tomorrow at the fourth annual WestGate@Crane College Fair. WestGate@Crane, Ind. - October 3, 2016 - The WestGate@Crane College Fair 2016 will take place tomorrow, October 4, 2016, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. More than 800 students from surrounding school corporations are expected to attend. More than 30 college and university representatives from Indiana, Kentucky, and Illinois will have informational booths at the fair. $3,000 in scholarship money will be awarded to three winning seniors hoping to further their education in the science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields. Organizer Alex Jackson has been involved since the first fair and says it has been great to see the expansion of interest. 'It is so exciting to watch this college fair grow these past four years. Every year it seems more and more students attend. The best feeling is being able to see the look on students faces when winners receive the funds to further their education.' The scholarship money is raised through the annual Running for Our Future 5K that takes place every summer at WestGate@Crane Technology Park. All students, including homeschool students, interested in learning more about post-secondary educational opportunities are welcome to attend. No registration is necessary for interested students. Students may attend the college fair as individuals if their school is not planning on participating as a group. Large bags or backpacks will go through security, so it is advised to not bring unnecessary items into the WestGate Academy building. The WestGate@Crane College Fair is an Indiana Association for College Admission Counseling (IACAC) registered event, meaning the fair is held to a high level of educational standards.
