PRF + Hypersonics - As Seen in the Wall Street Journal

The Wall Street Journal's digital version will feature Purdue Research Foundation and its impact on hypersonic technology today, Tuesday, March 1. Hypersonic technology is being militarized to create vehicles and weapons that travel five times the speed of sound or faster. They also can be maneuvered to travel at different altitudes. International powers, that include China and Russia, have tested this technology, and could use it to aggressively upset security around the globe. The U.S. has not kept pace and currently lacks parallel capabilities to China and Russia, where sufficient infrastructure for development and the high capital and operational costs are prohibitive for any single entity to bear. In response to the demand for a next-generation hypersonics facility, Purdue Research Foundation is establishing the Hypersonic Ground Test Center, a first-of-its-kind U.S. facility to test hypersonic technology. It will be a consortium administered by national industry and government partners who will have access to secure testing streams 24/7/365. Purdue is a preeminent location for hypersonic technology research for several reasons:

It is home to wind tunnels that operate from Mach 5 to Mach 40.
Both Purdue University and PRF have strong working relationships with other national leaders in hypersonic research including Air Force Research Laboratory, Army Research Laboratory, NASA, NSWC Crane Division, Johns Hopkins, Lockheed Martin, Northrup Grumman, and Sandia National Laboratories.
The Purdue School of Aeronautics and Astronautics has internationally renowned researchers dedicated to hypersonics. They were featured in the school's Fall 2020 'Aerogram' magazine.
