Thank you, Lori!
August 6, 2017
Lori Burch has been an integral part of the NSWC STEM team since January 2016. Prior to joining the program, Lori taught math at Bloomfield High School for 12 years, impacting students not only in the classroom, but also leaving imprints on their hearts for years to come. Lori goes above and beyond to make personal connections with her students, helping them succeed in their years after leaving her classroom. She is also impacting the future students in the area by assisting with the Lego Robotics Group in the 4-H program. When Lori is not in the educational setting, she is enjoying time with her two children Mason and Mara, and her husband David. Lori loves to spend her spare time cooking new meals, eating adventurous foods, listening to music and volunteering with the youth activities at her church. Lori will be missed in the STEM program, however she is off to make the world a better place. She is pursuing her dream of earning her PhD in Math Education through Indiana University and will continue to impact generations of students to come. Best wishes, Lori! -written by Brandy Frady, STEM Coordinator This year four STEM summer camps were held at WestGate Academy. Over the four weeks of camp we saw 120 kids from grades seven to two. During this summer we investigated the solar system, bees, and animals. They also learned how to be engineers and entrepreneurs. 'This summer was packed full of STEM goodness and we're looking forward to many more to come,' said STEM Coordinator Tina Closser.
