WBIW: Free Intellectual Property Education Seminar At WestGate

December 3, 2017

Via WBIW (ODON) - Purdue Office of Technology Commercialization (OTC) will provide a free Intellectual Property educational seminar to WestGate Innovators Tuesday, December 5, prior to the final Spirited Entrepreneur of the year. Dr. D.H.R. Sarma, the technology manager and registered U.S. patent agent at OTC, will present best practices in inventor-attorney interactions to ensure WestGate Innovators can protect their ideas. 'Inventor-attorney interactions are a key component in obtaining sound protection for your intellectual property, especially patents,' says Dr. Sarma. 'This seminar will summarize the key elements of such interactions to obtain the best possible results.' The second half of the seminar will be an opportunity for WestGate Innovators to ask specific questions. 'In this forum, key aspects of patent protection for intellectual property will be discussed in a special Q&A format. Participants are encouraged to bring their questions to get a better understanding of a variety of patent protection topics. Topics can range from documenting inventions to patent infringement and can include patent examiner actions and protection in foreign countries.' This intellectual property seminar is part of Purdue@WestGate's initiative to provide resources to the regional WestGate community, consisting of Department of Defense contractors, entrepreneurs, small businesses, and Fortune 500 companies. This free seminar will take place from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at WestGate Academy and is open to the public. Participants are welcome to stay for Purdue Foundry's monthly networking event, The Spirited Entrepreneur, immediately following the IP seminar.
