Donnelly: Collaboration Is Key To Success Of Indiana Military Base

U.S. Sen. Joe Donnelly (D-Ind.) says he supports missile strikes in Syria, but says it’s crucial the country protects its armed forces, which starts right here in Indiana. The Democratic politician Monday gave Sen. Jack Reed (D-R.I.), Ranking Member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, a tour of Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center in southern Indiana. Donnelly says it’s important for national leaders to see the work happening at Crane because it directly impacts military personnel. “Their lives, in very many ways, are dependent on the work done here,” Donnelly says. “We have to do it right, and we have to do it well, and we have to do it with the most advanced technologies, and that’s what Crane does every day.” Donnelly has hosted several other national officials at the base over the last few years, including former Secretary of Defense Ash Carter. He’s also led efforts to expand jobs and technology at the base. Donnelly says collaboration starting at a local level is key to the success of Crane.
